Shipka memorial looks like an interesting site to visit, beautiful views. I don't typically intentionally put memorials on my list during travelling, but I have been to many memorials on holiday now that I think of it. Especially, when I was younger because my parents are really into history, we visited several memorials in route during family holidays.

I wouldn't necessarily say that I'm a fan of memorials but I appreciate their role, which is to make us remember certain historic events. But even with memorials, we often do not appreciate the sacrifices and efforts that those living before us made, in order for us to be able to live in more prosperous and peaceful times.
ОтговорИзтриванеI'm not really a fan of memorials either and don't really go out of way to see them when traveling. Still I get their significance in commemorating important historical events and that is something that should be appreciated. It's nice that people still gather at this site annually to honor the lives that were lost in the liberation movement. Happy weekend Sany!
ОтговорИзтриванеI'm like you, not really into memorials and such but I can see why you liked this place. It transmits something special and unique :)
ОтговорИзтриванеHave a great weekend, dear :)
We have something similar in Malaysia which unfortunately not well taken care of. Some areas are filled with graffitis which is such a huge shame as it supposed to be a place for respect. That view from the top in the second last picture took my breath away, how beautiful.

These views are mesmerizing! Such a beautiful place it is...I wasn't familiar with Shipka memorial so thank you for teaching me something new today. I can certainly understand why it is a meaningful place to visit. Wonderful photography.... simply wonderful!
ОтговорИзтриванеTo be honest, I'm not sure where I stand with memorials. I visit them but they make me terribly sad. Sometimes it seems to me there are so many tragedies it is hard to take them all in, especially those that were recent. I try not to visit memorials when I'm tired or stressed because they might make me see only the bad.
The Shipka Memorials is so grand and beautiful, but haunting in your photos. Personally, I love anything historic so I would love to visit memorials in my travels <3

Yes and very beautiful view from the top of the tower.
ОтговорИзтриванеYou're right. This is one spectacular view.
ОтговорИзтриванеPersonally I'm not huge fan of memorials either, but on the other way I really appreciate the role of building them. What's more, the Shipka one has really great history and I'm amazed by the view from the top, it's really breathtaking and definately worth to see this place on your own eyes, totally understand why this memorial was exception.

Wow what an incredible view. I don't mind viewing these kinds of memorials, mostly because we don't have anything like that in Australia. We have points of interest, but they're not as old as what you'd find elsewhere in the world. I also really admire your connection with this site and what it means. Again I can't really relate, I was born here to immigrant parents from Europe who I am sure have certain ties and feelings to monuments in their homeland, but for me I can't really connect or relate. Which is a shame, because it's always left me feeling out of place.

Shipka is a favourite place of mine. I haven't been up there for a couple of years now and I probably need to visit this summer.
